Founded in 1984 by the United Commercial Bank, known at the time as the Bank of Canton of California, the Pacific Heritage Museum was created to serve both San Francisco residents and tourists. The 1875 U.S. Subtreasury Building, declared a historical landmark in 1949 and a San Francisco landmark 21 years later, houses the Pacific Heritage Museum ever since its opening.
The museum disposes of 10,000 square feet and uses this space to exhibit great works of art representing the cultural achievements and the economic progress in the Pacific Rim. The Pacific Heritage Museum invites you to discover secrets of art and history at its rotating and permanent exhibits. Vision and Virtuosity. A Selection of 20th Century Chinese Ink Painting Masters is only an example. If you are interested in the history of the Branch Mint and Subtreasury buildings, then our exhibit will definitely interest you. The Pacific Heritage Museum also organizes special exhibits in collaboration with other United States and international museums.
You’ll find the museum at 608 Commercial Street. The Pacific Heritage Museum is open Tuesday to Saturday, from 10 am to 4 pm. We invite you to visit it.
